Evening of Polish carols at PHA, Dec 13, 8 pm

Come to sing Polish carols at the PHA! This evening will feature all your favorite traditionals sung by everybody present; participating members of the PHA cabaret troupe will lead the tunes. In addition, Santa Claus will be at hand for folks who would like to have a picture taken with him. Everybody's invited!

St. Nicolas "evening" for children at PHA, Dec 8, 2:30 pm

An event for children building on Polish traditions for St. Nicolas's Day (Dec 6) and for Christmas. The program features a Nativity play (Jaselka) performed by the "Mlodzi Polanie" children group from the PHA, then arrival of Santa Claus with presents and candies for the children. Parents are invited to a great dinner that will be served from 1 pm.

"Andrzejki" dance evening at PHA, Nov 30, 9 pm - 2 am

"Andrzejki" (a party on St. Andrew's day, Nov 30) was in Poland traditionally the last party of the year, with some special customs such as divining future from pouring wax. The evening will feature a live band - the "Polonus" band from Portland.

Charity luncheons at the Polish Church for K. Tasak, Nov 24, after mass

Two luncheons (Polish style dinners) after 9:45 mass and the noon mass at the Polish Church in Seattle for the benefit of Krzysztof Tasak, 25.  He is a paraplegic after a recent accident and is hospitalized at the Harborview Medical Center. He makes a great progress at rehabilitation and needs money to continue therapy.

You can contact the parish with monetary donations or you can donate money for Krzysztof through the emergency fund of the Polish Home Foundation (tax deductible, indicate K. Tasak). Fred Frontier was organizing other fundraisers for Krzysztof, see his web page. He and others raised about $4000 total so far.

The cabaret from PHA in Vancouver, BC, Nov 23, 7 pm

The “To i owo” cabaret from the PHA is giving a performance at a Polish Hall in Vancouver, BC, in the program “Bo z dziewczynami, oj nie wie, oj nie wie sie”. In Polish.

Polish dance party & dinner for A. Marczak in Ballard, Nov 23, 8 pm – 2 am

Polish dance party & dinner with the profit going for the benefit of Agnieszka Marczak, 21. She has a bad case of cancer. The disco features DJ “Y” spinning Polish, Russian and Latino electronic dance music.

Efforts to raise funds for Agnieszka, by the Polish Parish and others, have been going on for several months; see info at the PHA website. So far about $48,000 has been raised for her. You can donate money to her account listed at the website, through the party organizers or you can donate through the emergency fund of the Polish Home Foundation (tax-deductible, indicate A. Marczak).

Where: VFW Post 3063 Ballard Eagles, 2812 NW Market St, Seattle (Ballard), tickets $20 (this includes a dinner for those who arrive between 8-10 pm). Alcohol not included and won’t be sold but you can bring your own.

11^-ty Festiwal Filmów Polskich, Broadway Performance Hall, 1-10 listopada

11^th Polish Film Festival at Broadway Performance Hall, Nov 1-10

Every November, the Polish Film Festival in Seattle brings to Puget Sound a crop of newest Polish Movies as well as outstanding directors and actors as Festival guests. This year Festival will feature award winning movies such as Back and Forth, Where Eskimos Live and An Angel in Cracow as well as the best comedy of 2002, E=mc2. The Festival is organized and sponsored by the Seattle-Gdynia Sister City Assn.

Polish Bazaar at the PHA, Nov 2-3

The yearly bazaar organized by the Polish Ladies Auxiliary. This event features booths with Polish books and CDs, crafts and other merchandize as well as booths manned by various local Polish-American organizations. You can also buy pierogi, Polish cakes and sweets as well as have a full course dinner prepared by the ladies.

Koncert szopenowski w wykonaniu Krzysztofa Jabłońskiego w Seattle Arts Museum

Krzysztof Jabłoński jest uważany za największy polski talent pianistyczny od czasu Krystiana Zimmermana.  W 1985 roku zdobył on 3-cie miejsce na Międzynarodowym Konkursie Szopenowskim w Warszawie.  W programie koncertu utwory z ostatniego koncertu danego przez F. Szopena w Paryżu w 1848 roku.  W koncercie wystąpi Claire Garabedian.  Koncert organizowany jest przez Fundację Szopenowską.

Krzysztof Jablonski plays Chopin at SAM

Mr. Jablonski is hailed as the greatest talent in Poland since Mr. Zimerman. He won the 3rd place in the 1985 Chopin competition in Warsaw. He will be playing program from Chopin’s last concert in Paris in 1848. Joining Mr. Jablonski for the Sonata for Piano & Cello will be Claire Garabedian. This concert is organized by the Chopin Foundation NW.

Polish Wedding by Sobotka & Polonez at Polish Home.

The choir and band from Portland comes to the Polish Home at last! The evening will feature great performance by Sobotka about the Polish traditional wedding customs, a dinner (you are a wedding guest!) and dances to tunes by the Polonez band.
