Dear Members of the Polish
Home Association,
The Northwest Council of the
Chopin Foundation is thrilled to present its annual
Chopin Festival Winner's
Concert at the Polish Cultural Center, Sunday,
February 5th at 2:30 PM.
It has been several years
since this concert has been held at the Dom Polski
and the Foundation is delighted to return. It is
with the greatest pleasure that the Chopin
Foundation would like to invite all the members of
the Polish Home Association, the Polish Home
Foundation, and the Ladies Auxiliary to attend this
entertaining program.
Admission is free and the auditorium will open at 2
PM.
The Chopin Festival
Competition will be held Friday and Saturday,
February 3rd and 4th, at the downtown Sherman Clay
Piano Store. From this arduous competition
approximately one dozen young pianists will be
selected from a field of nearly 120 students by
several highly esteemed judges. These talented few
are the young pianists who will perform Sunday at
the Winner's Concert. Also included in the concert
will be the winner of the Concerto Division
Competition, allowing him/her to perform a selection
from one of these rarely heard works by Chopin
accompanied by a professional string quartet.
This is exactly the format
Chopin first used in Warsaw to premiere his Concerti
to the world in 1829 and 1830 and thus presents a
unique opportunity to experience this beautiful
music as he had originally intended.
It is only proper that the
Chopin Foundation present this culturally important
concert, performed by our community's finest young
pianists, at the Polish Cultural Center.
It is with the Polish
Community of our city where the true spirit of
Chopin's music resides and with whom these fine
pianists can grasp the real depth of admiration for
Chopin's genius. Please honor us with your presence!
